Purchase Money Security Interest (PMSI)

CSC offers end-to-end assistance with the PMSI perfection process through Search Center, from the initial UCC search, to post-filing searches (Search-to-Reflect) to ensure no other UCCs were filed between the pre-filing search and your UCC filing. You can use cscfinancialonline.com to create a PMSI order, which electronically generates letters to secured parties to help you perfect your purchase money security interest.

Note: Tennessee implemented a 30-day window for its UCC PMSI requirements, per Senate Bill 426.

To begin, select the Search Center tab. If you have previously run other searches, and want to clear any remaining entries on the page, click the Search Center tab again to refresh the page.

Online searches:

  1. Complete an online UCC search. For instructions on completing a UCC search click here.

  2. When the search is complete, the Search Summary page is displayed. Select the filing(s) of the secured parties to whom you wish to send a PMSI letter.

  3. Click the PMSI button.

  4. In the separate browser window that opens, add and/or remove secured parties and edit addresses as necessary to create a final recipient list.

  5. Click Submit. A PMSI order is created, automatically generating letters to each secured party you selected. CSC uploads the letters and address information to the Electronic Certified Mail Web site.

  6. When the secured parties receive the letter, you will receive certified return receipts by email, saved in Adobe PDF format and attached to the PMSI order with a copy of the letter sent.

PMSI orders are stored in Document Center for future access.

Offline searches:

  1. Complete an offline UCC search. For instructions on completing an offline UCC search click here.

  3. CSC creates a spreadsheet with names and addresses of selected secured parties, and then creates the letters.

  4. CSC uploads the letters and address information to the Electronic Certified Mail Web site.
